Welcome from the Director
Welcome to UC San Diego!
On behalf of the Parent and Family Programs, we are pleased your student has chosen to attend the University of California San Diego to pursue their higher education.
UC San Diego provides an outstanding educational experience, both inside and outside the classroom, and with your assistance your student can be successful. At UC San Diego, we view the relationship with our students' parents and families as a partnership: a partnership created to help students learn, grow and be prepared to become active citizens of a diverse and complex world.
Our motto is “when parents are informed, students benefit.” Parents and families who want to be informed, engage in our university community. We help you navigate UC San Diego, and invite you and your student to join in the Triton Family. Our annual Family Weekend and Siblings Weekend are opportunities to connect with the entire University. The Triton Family Connection monthly e-newsletter, our website, and other publications are geared to keep you informed of on- and off-campus events and news. Additionally, the Triton Parent and Family Ambassador is a volunteer opportunity to help with local and regional UC San Diego events. As the recent appointed Director for Parent and Family Programs, it is my pleasure to be part of your UC San Diego experience. Please contact the Parents’ Helpline, (858) 534-7273, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to get your questions answered.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the Triton Family!
Karina M. Viaud, Ed.D.
