International Parent & Family Orientation

Invitation to Families

Geisel StudentsAs parents and families of international students, we understand that your concerns may be a little bit more amplified and your questions may be vast. If you can, we encourage you to attend the International Parent & Family Orientation, a program for families of first-time college students. This program is separate from the orientation your student will undergo. To learn about your student’s orientation program, please visit the New International Student Orientation.

What to Expect

  • Your student will move into their assigned residence room, and, if they registered, will participate in the September college orientations. Families are encouraged to attend the same college orientation with their student but will participate in a seperate program.
  • Your student will also participate in the New International Student Orientation while familiies will be invited to participate in the New International Parent/Family Orientation. Both orientations are scheduled on the same day, Sunday September 18.
  • After the orientation programs conclude, your student will participate in campus wide events, like Welcome Week, to get aquainted with the campus environment.

Date: Sunday, September 18, 2016
Location: Multipurpose Room, Student Services Center

If you have questions about the International Parent & Family Orientation, please contact us at (858) 534-7273 or e-mail parents@ucsd.edu.

Note:

If possible, we recommend attending both orientations. If you are only able to attend one, please call us for guidance or visit the questions below this text.

Online Registration

What if the online registration reached capacity

We apologize for the inconvenience if the registration reaches capacity. Space is limited on campus and by administering a capacity for this program, we strive in making guests comfortable. Since you will be on campus with your student, we encourage you to stop by the program at the Multipurpose Room in the Student Services Center to see if registered parents and families did not show for the program. At that point, we will be able to accommodate. We will also be glad to offer welcome materials. Please email parents@ucsd.edu with your name and number of guests to confirm your interest for a waitlist.
