What is Siblings Day?

Siblings Day is a fun-filled day sponsored by the Parent & Family Programs Office. UC San Diego students host brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, or family friends ages 7-16.

When is Siblings Day?

Who can come to Siblings Day?

The program is geared towards students and their sibling ages 7-16 years old. Family members are welcome and must register, AND your UC San Diego student must be registered to serve as a host to the younger participant.

Are overnight accommodations available?

On-campus accommodations are NOT provided for Siblings Day. If your family spends the weekend in San Diego, please consider making reservations at any of the Bartell Hotels and receive a special UC San Diego Triton Family discounted rate.

Is a sibling required to attend the event?

If a student does not have a sibling, they can host a niece, nephew, cousin, or family member or friend (ages 7-16) to join  for the day.

When can I register?

Is there a cost for Siblings Day?

Visit the registration page for information on cost. For families in need, there is a fee waiver application available on a first come, first serve basis. Visit the registration page to apply.

How can I pay for Siblings Day?

See the registration page for more details. Payment can only be made with a credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard ONLY) online.  Please contact us at or (858) 534-7273 with any questions.

Is there a phone number I can call on the day of the event?

Yes. Since we will be out of the office to execute the event, you can reach us via our work cell phone at (858) 900-6942. The service is live on the day of the event.

How can I get directions to UC San Diego?

For comprehensive directions to UC San Diego, please see our Parking and Directions page. There is no fee for parking on the weekends. Parking is permitted anywhere on campus, except for spaces designated Reserved 24/7, handicap, unmarked, and unloading/loading only spaces. 

Where is Siblings Day located at UC San Diego?

Check-In is at the Multipurpose Room, Student Services Center on Rupertus Lane. The Multipurpose Room will serve as the central location for the majority of the day eventhough the day will occur at various places on campus. Please check the schedule for locations to all activities. Note: The schedule is subject to some changes.

is there a recommended dress attire?

Be sure to dress comfortably; bring a sweater and wear flat shoes or sneakers. Bring a water bottle. There are several water stations on campus.

Where do I check in for Siblings Day?

The Multipurpose Room at the Student Services Center on Rupertus Lane.

Can I change my sessions when I check-in?

No. All session choices are final.

Where do I drop off/pick up my child?

If you're dropping off your child in the morning, please do so on Rupertus Lane near the Student Services Center. There will be signs to guide you to the drop off location. 

If you are picking up your child at the conclusion of the day, we have designated Ridge Walk and North Point Drive. If you made plans with your student for a pick up location more convenient for you, please make those arrangements with your student.

Do you provide mobility service?

Yes. If someone in your family cannot walk long distances or are hurt, we provide cart service from one activitty to another or to/from parking structure. Please call the mobility hotline at (858) 900-6947 on the day of the event.

Do I need to complete a liability form?

Yes, each participant, including the UC San Diego student, is required to complete a liability form by checking the box on the online registration form to participate in Siblings Day. By checking the box on the online registration form you are consenting to the liability of waiver for Siblings Day. A liability waiver is needed in order for you (the parent) to grant permission for your child (7-16) to participate in the activities of Siblings Day.

Is there a refund policy?

Please consult with your student about their academic obligations or any other obligations during this time and agree on whether or not to participate in Siblings Day. Once your family is registered, refunds for any reason will not be granted. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Parent & Family Programs at (858) 534-7273 or

How do I know I successfully completed the registration process?

Upon completing the registration process, you will receive a confirmation via e-mail.  You will also receive an e-mail confirmation before the event with more information about the day. Check the Siblings Day webpage regularly for updates. 

How do I add someone or make changes to my existing registration?

Return to the confirmation email you received once you registered. Click on the link "modify your registration." You will be asked to enter your email and your last name.
