For Parents and Families

Black/Latinx Family Orientation

You are invited to attend the Inaugural Black/Latinx Family Orientation! This experience, which was created specifically with you in mind, will provide you will the tools, information, and connections to give you a strong start at UC San Diego. Additionally, participants will be given access to incredible resources including, but not limited to early move-in. There is no cost of attendance for you or your family members (other than accommodations). We ask families to limit their groups to a total size of 10. If you have any questions or need to request assistance with accommodation costs, please contact blforientation@ucsd.edu. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in September.

All participants (students and family members) must complete the following forms and bring them to the orientation check-in:

Parent & Family Orientation

This program is for parents and families of all students beginning college in the fall. Your student’s college host this program which provides information about the culture of the college and sessions on paying tuition, student health services, campus safety, and more. Click on your student’s college to read about and register for the program.

Depending on the college, this program is scheduled for one day during the week of September 20. Attend the same orientation date as your student.

New Student Orientation

This program is required for all new students and is hosted by your student’s college. Click on your student’s college to read about the program.

Depending on the college, this program is scheduled for one or two days during the week of September 20.

We encourage you to attend these additional orientation programs that will inform you about the culture of the campus.

Homecoming Weekend

An additional way to connect with the university is by joining us for Homecoming Weekend, October 22 - 24, 2021. The weekend is filled with great information and events geared to reconnect with your student. Homecoming Weekend brings the community together through educational sessions, faculty lecture, meeting the administrators that support your student, sports, concert, meals, and so much more.
