Ask a Parent!

Thank you for your interest in utilizing Ask a Parent! as a way to better get to know UC San Diego. Our Ambassadors are "experts" of their own UC San Diego experience and of their student's experience. This one-on-one connection may add to your understanding of the university's resources for you and your student.

What to ask a parent ambassador?

People learn from eachother. Learning from another parent's experience can bring insight on how to support your student. For this reason, your questions may include the following:
  1. How can I support my student who's away from home?
  2. How often do I visit my student? How do I stay in touch with my student?
  3. What advice do you have for a first-time parent of a college student?
  4. How can my student access an internship for their major?
  5. My student grew up with having their own room, how can my student adjust to sharing a space with others?
  6. My student said that UC San Diego is different from home. How can my student adjust to the campus culture? What resources exist to support my student's cultural identity?
  • Once we receive your request, we will contact the parent ambassador to confirm their availability.
  • You will receive an email from parents@ucsd.edu to share your parent ambassador contact. From there, you and the parent ambassador will communicate about your questions.

Please allow up to 48 hours to reply to your request.

If you have questions, contact us at parents@ucsd.edu.
