This orientation program is open to all incoming students and their families, regardless of race, color, national origin, or any other protected status.Black, Latinx, and Native American Family Orientation is hosted by the Black Resource Center, Raza Resource Centro, Intertribal Resource Center, the office of Student Retention and Success, and the office of Parent and Family Programs. All incoming students and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Space is limited. If registration is full, please know that we value your participation and will post key information on accessible websites and inform all students of Open House options. As always, campus partners will be available for follow-up conversations to welcome you to UCSD.
2024 Program Coming Soon.
All Parent and Family Orientations are optional. Black, Latinx and Native American Family Orientation will focus on the cultural transition that Black, Latinx and Native American students and their families may experience when students start at UC San Diego. It will also review resources and information to help Black, Latinx and Native American students and families navigate campus. If your student is Black, Latinx or Native American, or if you feel this information would benefit you or your student, we encourage you to attend.
Black, Latinx and Native American Family Orientation is optional, and students are not required to attend. However, your student’s college New Student Orientation program is mandatory.
We encourage students to attend both programs. Your student will be acquainted with their college culture through their college’s New Student Orientation, and they will learn about campus-wide resources and community engagement opportunities through the Black, Latinx and Native American Family Orientation.
Each college hosts its own move in for students living on campus. Typically, move in is the third week of September for first-year students (usually tied to new student orientation programs) and the third Saturday of September for returning students. Please visit your student’s college and/or our Undergraduate Housing Move-In/Move-Out page for information.
