Black, Latinx and Native American Family Orientation

Black, Latinx and Native American Family Orientation is a voluntary program designed to share information about the UC San Diego student experience from a culturally informed lens. Participants will be able to engage with other incoming families, learn about campus resources and get familiar with the campus. Students participating in this program will have the opportunity to move into their campus residence early. Registration for Black, Latinx, and Native American Family Orientation is now closed. Please note that the programs organized by the Black Resource Center and Raza Resource Centro are at capacity. There may still be space in the program hosted by the Intertribal Resource Center. Please contact the Intertribal Resource Center at itrc@ucsd.edu if you are interested in attending their program. 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Each resource center hosts a specialized orientation track offering information, tools, and advice to help prepare students and families for the transition to campus and feel empowered to successfully the college experience. This overview of each orientation track schedule notes dates, general times, and audiences for each program. Registrants will receive detailed schedule information later this summer.

Please note: If you have a housing contract, you'll have an opportunity for a special move-in time to attend this orientation. You'll need to register to receive the proper move-in instructions.

Parent & Family Orientation

This program is for parents and families of all students beginning college in the fall. Your student’s college host this program which provides information about the culture of the college and sessions on paying tuition, student health services, campus safety, and more. Click on your student’s college to read about the program.

Parent & Family Orientation is set to take place virtually during August 2023. Exact dates will be released later this summer.

For Students

New Student Orientation

This program is required for all new students and is hosted by your student’s college. Click on your student’s college to read about the program.

Depending on the college, this program will be scheduled for one or two days during the week of September 12-19.

Additional Programs

We encourage you to attend these additional orientation programs that will inform you about the culture of the campus.

Homecoming and Family Weekend

An additional way to connect with the university is by joining us for Homecoming Weekend, October 20 - 22, 2023. The weekend is filled with great information and events geared to reconnect with your student. Homecoming and Family Weekend brings the community together through educational sessions, faculty lecture, meeting the administrators that support your student, sports, concert, meals, and so much more.
