Family Weekend

Family Weekend is scheduled during a crucial time of the new student’s transition of college life. Family Weekend is a traditional event inviting all families to experience UC San Diego in a fun way, assist families to visualize their student’s college life, and bond as a family.

Family of the Year

We know that families are a tremendous support for their student’s college experience and success. For this reason, we seek to acknowledge this support by providing students the opportunity to nominate their family for the Family of the Year Award. Recipients of the award are acknowledge during Family Weekend.

Siblings Day

Siblings Day promotes college-going, illustrates the UC San Diego college experience and brings families together to participate in a variety of activities.  Welcoming siblings and other younger family members (ages 7 -16), Siblings Day has shown to strengthen the college student’s relationship with their family members.

Summer Send-Offs 

Parent & Family Programs partners with Alumni to welcome new families and students to meet and mingle with other new families and students in their hometown or city. Hosted by UC San Diego alumni, families and students learn about the UC San Diego culture from those who have gone through it all.

International Parent & Family Orientation

This is an orientation program is critical to parents and families living outside of the U.S. In partnership with the International Center this program will help you gain a better understanding of UC San Diego and the American culture, learn about academic requirements, discover important campus resources, and meet other international families. 

Parent & Family Orientation

Parents and families of new undergraduate students (freshmen and transfer students) are encouraged to attend this program specific to families. A variety of services and resources will be introduced to you and you will meet several staff, faculty and student leaders whom will influence your student’s UC San Diego experience.
