- Tips for Your Student
UC San Diego is ranked fifth in the nation for best career placement among public colleges — and with good reason. Your student has all the support they need to explore their interests, transform their passions into meaningful careers, and build a strong and lasting professional network.
The UC San Diego Career Center’s mission is to empower Tritons to proactively plan their careers and lives to align meaningful opportunities throughout their lifetimes. The center’s skilled career consultants know that lifelong learning and students’ personal and career development go hand in hand, so the Career Center team works with students to explore meaningful work and purpose, conquer limiting beliefs, and pursue personal and professional fulfillment.
Students can take advantage of one-on-one career, pre-grad, or pre-health advising, as well as workshops and employer information sessions, virtual and digital resources, and career fairs and networking events.
The Triton Career Readiness Passport is an interactive tool that helps students launch their career journey. Through career-focused events and activities, students build their personal brand, reflect on their growth, and track progress using a motivating checklist. They earn Triton Stamps for participating in programs and receive coaching on their Career Readiness IQ. Students can learn more on Handshake.
UC San Diego’s Student Employment program employs more than 5,000 students working in over 140 departments across campus. The program offers students the opportunity to work in the fields of health care, biological research, childcare, community improvement, civic education and many other disciplines. Our Student Employment Team guides students through the entire process, helping students search for open positions, facilitating onboarding and support a meaningful learning experience.
If you’re in a position to hire or host an internship, look no further! Employers have shared that UC San Diego students are “always prepared, professional and great to work with.” Join Handshake to post job and internship opportunities for students and alumni; request on-campus interviews, office hours and information sessions; and register for career fairs. Handshake is the best and most effective way to promote your job and internship opportunities.
Tritons Connect is an online community of UC San Diego alumni, students, staff and faculty. It’s a Triton-exclusive network for mentorship, posting or applying for jobs, finding community groups, and so much more — including a directory of Triton community members.
