The UC San Diego Career Center’s mission is to empower Tritons to proactively design their careers and lives to align meaningful opportunities throughout their lifetimes. The center’s skilled career consultants know that lifelong learning and students’ personal and career development go hand in hand, so the Career Center team works with students to explore meaningful work and purpose, conquer limiting beliefs, and pursue personal and professional fulfillment.
Students can take advantage of one-on-one career, pre-grad, or pre-health advising, as well as workshops and employer information sessions, virtual and digital resources, and career fairs and networking events. Some exciting Career Center resources include:
This innovative career readiness tool helps students begin their career journey toward meaningful work. The passport engages students through a plethora of career-related preparedness activities and events. It also serves as a living self-reflection and motivating checklist to help students develop their personal brand and career profile. Students attain Triton Stamps for attending career development events and are assessed and coached on their Career Readiness IQ. Students can learn more on Handshake.
A podcast featuring diverse professionals discussing topics that inspire and empower you on a path to meaningful work, Designing Your Career and Life gives listeners the knowledge, skills and confidence to navigate their careers and lives in a time of disruption and uncertainty.
UC San Diego’s Student Employment program employs more than 5,000 students working in over 140 departments across campus. The program offers students the opportunity to work in the fields of health care, biological research, childcare, community improvement, civic education and many other disciplines. Our Student Employment Team guides students through the entire process, helping students search for open positions, facilitating onboarding and support a meaningful learning experience.

Tritons Connect is an online community of UC San Diego alumni, students, parents, staff and faculty. It’s a Triton-exclusive network for mentorship, posting or applying for jobs, finding community groups, and so much more — including a directory of Triton community members.
Triton Table Talks are casual and comfortable professional development panel conversations led by members of the Triton community who are industry experts on a variety of career-building and lifelong learning topics. Each experience presents an opportunity for UC San Diego alumni to meet and interact with fellow Tritons, build connections and gather professional guidance in an informal group setting.
Take a Triton to Work is a job shadowing (externship) program, allowing students to explore career options in potential fields of interest. Parents, alumni and industry professionals can host workplace shadowing opportunities students can apply for. Scheduling is flexible, based on the preference of the participants, and can take place in-person or virtually, during a full- or partial-day on-the-job session. It’s a valuable way for students to gain real world experience, while making lasting Triton connections.
