Parking Permits and Citations

Under University of California policy, anyone who parks at UC San Diego must pay a fee to help support construction, maintenance and administration of parking facilities.

Paid parking permits are required seven days a week. Any student parking on campus must have a valid parking permit associated with their license plate or choose daily or hourly visitor parking. Student permits are sold online.

  • Commuter students can also purchase daily student (S), discount (D) or motorcycle (M) permits through the ParkMobile app. View ParkMobile zone codes for commuter students.
  • First- and second-year students are not granted S parking permits at UC San Diego. They can purchase daily pay station and D parking permits only. Resident students must complete an application to be considered to purchase a parking permit.
  • Disability and medical accommodations are available. Students with a Disabled Person placard or license plate can park in accessible spaces on campus without displaying a parking permit. If your student is not eligible for a Disabled Person placard or license plate and needs access to a personal vehicle at UC San Diego, they can register with the Office for Students with Disabilities, which can work with your student to determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Students can apply for an exception to purchase an available parking permit by completing the online exception request form.
