Family Calendar and Tips of the Month
Tips and Conversation Starters: July
Tips of the Month
- Parents of incoming students: Review our New Family Checklist.
- Talk to your student. Whether your student is about to start their first-year, last year, or something in between, summer is a good time to talk about their plans for the coming academic year. What are their goals and who can help your student achieve them once they’re back on campus?
- Encourage your student to check their UC San Diego email. Students receive important emails about the coming academic year over the summer, many of which require action on the part of your student.
- Summer Session Classes: If your student is taking or wants to take a summer class, there are important dates to follow and resources to learn.
- New families: Attend the Parent & Family Orientation program hosted by your student’s college.
- Save the date! Join us for Family Weekend on October 18 and 19!
Conversation Starters
- For Families of Returning Students
- How are your friends? What are they up to this summer?
- Is there anything I can help you with as you start preparing for the fall quarter?
- Let’s start planning for move-in!
- For Families of Incoming Students
- What are you most looking forward to about college life? What will you miss the most about home?
- How are you doing with the steps on your New Student Checklist? Is there anything confusing? Are there any deadlines coming up?
