Karina M. Viaud, Ed.D. Senior Officer

For many years, I worked with students to enhance the college experience which include, but is not limited to, the experience of transfer, international, resident, and first-generation students. I am thrilled to serve as Senior Officer for the Office of Parent & Family Programs at UC San Diego. In this role, I continue to support the student by engaging the parent, family, and friends of the undergraduate student. Your role as a support system to your student does not go unnoticed; in fact, it is celebrated through a variety of services, resources, and programs we facilitate to engage you in your student’s experience at UC San Diego.

There are many ways to stay connected to the campus while you are home. Browse the website to learn how to become an ambassador for the office, read the parent guide (offered in multiple languages), and learn what your student’s life on campus may be like given their identity. And of course, join us on our social media to find out about campus life.

Dan Perez, M.A. Ed. Program Coordinator

Over the past decade I have worked in many aspects of university and student life; most recently as the Student Affairs Coordinator at the Art Institute of California San Diego. As a professional, I have worked with student programming and wellness, disability services, student conduct, new student orientation, student clubs and organizations, student veteran organization and military resource center, and commencement.

I am thrilled to be able to use my understanding of campus life and student transition in my role as Program Coordinator. I focused on creating avenues for parents and families of undergraduate students to connect and engage with the campus community. I also serve as families’ go-to contact to answer questions and to assist in the ways that best fits your needs to support your student.
